RE
In RE pupils learn about Christianity, other religions and worldviews so that they can understand the world better and develop their own sense of place within it. At North Marston CE School RE is taught using an enquiry approach supported by the Jigsaw RE scheme of work and in line with Bucks Agreed Syllabus for RE 2022. Each class learns about Christianity and one other religion.
Due to our mixed classes RE is taught in a two year cycle:
Cycle A
Rubies - festivals and stories - focus on Christianity and other faiths to reflect the cohort and community
Opal - Christianity and Judaism
Diamond - Christianity and Judaism
Sapphires - Christianity, Hinduism and Humanism
Cycle B
Rubies - festivals and stories - focus on Christianity and other faiths to reflect the cohort and community
Opal - Christianity and Islam
Diamond - Christianity and Hinduism
Sapphires - Christianity and Islam
Children develop their skills in RE in the three disciplines:
Theology (believing)
Philosophy (thinking)
Human Social Science (living)
School visits
We are very fortunate that St Mary's church is open daily so that we can take classes across to visit as part of a lesson. Rev Petra has also been into school to support staff to explain more traditions related to the Anglican church.
Rabbi Zvi visited school to support Reception and Year One better understand Shabbat and the lay out of a synagogue. He then spoke to Diamond class about Shavuot and answered their questions to gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be Jewish on a daily basis.
